Fun Fun Fun Fest Pays Tribute to Waterloo Park

We are all sad to see Fun Fun Fun Fest’s original stomping grounds at Waterloo Park put to rest for 2011, and so are the Fx3 crew members.  Check out this tribute video and wait to see some new artist additions at the end…yay!  Let’s get ready Auditorium Shores! We gonna tear you up!!

Fun Fun Fun Fest Line Up Released TODAY!

We have a personal love affair with Turntable.fm, and the Fun Fun Fun Fest crew took advantage of it’s popularity for their 2011 line up release.  We hopped in the Fun Fest Turntable room about 10am, and got booted out due to a digital “fire code” because the room got maxed out at 200. Exuuuuseeee me, I don’ mean to be rude, but we were in there already! Anyway, kept refreshing that dang page and continued to stalk tweets to grab some of the sweet artist names that were being delved out by the minute.  Here’s the list of bad ass rappers, punk-rockers, DJs, indie-dazers, comedians and more…

FX3 will be at Auditorium Shores this year November 4-6. You best hurry up and buy those tickets!

[Review] Atmosphere @ Stubb’s!

Hip hop heads Atmosphere rolled back into Austin, and we were there to get some sick pictures. As always, Slug, Ant and crew rocked their set, with their more soul and blues infused sound, and Slug brings the crowd together as the rhyme-spitting front-man. If you missed out this time, make sure to catch these guys the next time they come around.

A-Trak & Kid Sister in Austin 4/20

A-Trak is making his way back to Austin on his Magic 8-Ball Tour, and he’s bringing our # 1 femme fatal, Kid Sister!  The show will be at Venue 222 on Wednesday, April 20th.  Gaslamp Killer and King Louie are also on the bill, doors @ 8pm, tickets $15.  We’ve posted a ton of A-Trak’s remixes that you can snag fo-free.  Another reason why we love this man, is because his brother is Dave 1 of Chromeo. Yup. This Fool’s Gold Records founder is well connected to our love ones.  You can download his 15-track Mixtape “Dirty South Dance 2″ right chere:  A-Trak | Dirty South Dance 2 Mixtape .

As for our girl Kid Sister, check out her her collab track with Paul Wall  and of course her Free Mixtape! Get ready to dance yo’ booty off! We will make sure to get some lovely close up photos of her fabulous nails (Merch has ghetto-nail envy).  Here’s her most recent video, even A-Trak himself makes a little cameo.

Here’s a hilarious interview we did with Kid Sister during Fun Fun Fun Fest a few years ago.

Artist of the Week | Kosha Dillz

We haven’t had an “Artist of the Week” in a long while, so what better way to start it back up with some damn good hip hop?

If you didn’t catch this guy at SXSW, you definitely missed out.  Kosha Dillz is a white-Jewish indie rapper from Jersey who packed his bags, went on tour, and made his way to his new home in LA.  He’s goofy and outgoing, but he’s also a serious hip-hop extraordinaire.  Kosha also writes for online publications such as URB, and shares first-hand experience in the DIY culture of hustling with anyone and everyone. His SXSW official showcase was featured as a Friday pick in The Austin Chronicle, who said his last album, “Beverly Dillz drew laughs like breaths”.

He released “Gina and the Garage Sale” during SXSW, which features 9 tracks that are now up on iTunes. Check out these two free tracks in the meantime.  Also, you gotta follow him on Twitter, he’s ridiculous.

Music Connection Magazine was at SXSW this year, and asked musicians to share what they believe in.  They sat down with Kosha and here’s what he had to say:

“The Alien Song” -Kosha Dillz feat. Homeboy Sandman, MC Lars and Geo (of Blue Scholars)

“All These Years” – Kosha Dillz

SXSW 2011 Party Recap

This year’s SXSW was the most insane to date. There were more parties (and way more people) than any of the 6 years that I’ve been in attendance. People bum-rushed and tore down fences at The Strokes free show at Auditorium Shores, Odd Future were pelting audience members with water bottles, people in the mosh-pit during Trash Talk’s set at Fader Fort were throwing trashcans, and there were even complaints of people sleeping and bathing at the state cemetery. Oh, and I met Voltron.

March 17

The Bravery @ Pure Volume House | “Time Won’t Let Me Go”

March 18

Odd Future @ Fader Fort | “Sandwitches”

Matt & Kim @ Fader Fort | “Silver Tiles”

Das Racist @ Pure Volume House | “Rooftop”
